Spiffy, a North Carolina-based startup specializing in on-demand automotive servicing and technology, announced the acquisition of Your Location Lubrication (YLL), a Florida-based company that focuses on preventative maintenance for cars high volume rental.
The acquisition, which more than doubles the size of Spiffy, adds YLL’s innovative oil change system, technicians and fleet to Spiffy’s fleet management-as-a-service.
“YLL is present in around 10 markets and five are new to us, so there is geographic expansion”, co-founder and CEO Scottish Wingo said Hypepotamus. “On top of that, they have a capacity that we don’t have, which is high volume oil change. Their technology can change the oil of four to six cars in an hour. Our approach can do two.
Spiffy introduced its FMaaS service in June 2019 to customers as a single-source system for fleet maintenance, helping to increase maximum vehicle function and optimize overall fleet implementation nationwide. .
Technicians complement mobile and on-site services with fully equipped vans for vehicle washing, detailing, oil changes, tire rotation and more. Spiffy’s proprietary technology platform supports every department through digital tracking of each employee’s location and workflow, as well as custom functions that break down their schedules and pay rates.
“We can oversee the entire process for the fleet manager, from the cradle to the grave or in the fleet, through preventive maintenance, right up to fleet removal,” Wingo says Hypepotamus in June. The advantage is a simplification of the fleet management process.
In a statement, YLL CEO Zachary Zeller touted the value of his company’s cutting-edge oil change technology to Spiffy customers.
“Today’s fleet managers are looking for innovative preventative maintenance solutions to reduce vehicle turnaround time and increase utilization,” Zeller said.
“Providing this kind of service requires multifunctional capabilities and a digital backbone. Spiffy Fleet Management as a Service offers this and I am delighted to add our […] solution to the mixture.
Spiffy’s acquisition of YLL is the company’s second in less than four months. Spiffy acquired Austin-based competitor NuWash’s Dallas operations last June, enabling it to provide on-demand car wash and auto maintenance services to more than 200 customers in that market.
As a result of this most recent acquisition and organic expansion, Spiffy now offers its platform in 20 markets, employing over 300 technicians in 200 vans equipped to provide a variety of on-demand automotive services.
The acquisition of YLL crowns a year of rapid growth for Spiffy. Last month, the company celebrated the completion and planning of its 200,000th service. However, Wingo says the most recent acquisition of Spiffy is by far the company’s biggest milestone to date.
“It’s not every day that you double your sales overnight, ”says Wingo.
